Custom Domain for General Forms and Landing Pages

Last modified: January 7, 2022

What Is It?

This feature allows you to easily change the default URL of the form or landing page with your own domain.

For example, the default URL for a form or landing page is https://halaman.email/f/kft-form-gvE43vD2.  With this custom domain feature, you can change the URL to https://opt.muhammadsholeh.com/f/kft-form-gvE43vD2. Then, if you click those links, both URLs will lead you to the same page.

This feature is general, which means that once you set up a custom domain, all the default URLs of your forms and landing pages will change to the domain you have specified.

You can still access the form and landing page with the default URL.

Conditions of Using the Custom Domain Feature

To be able to set up a custom domain, there are two conditions that you must fulfill:

  1. Have an active domain
  2. Have access to DNS Manager.

You can continue to the next section if you have met these two conditions.

Custom Domain Settings For General Forms And Landing Page

To set up a custom domain for general forms and landing pages, please follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the aplikasi.kirim.email page.
  2. Click User Menu > Account Settings.
  3. Click the Custom Domain tab.
  4. Fill in the “Custom Domain” field with your domain and start with any word you want.
For Example: If your main domain is muhammadsholeh.com, you can fill this field with opt.muhammadsholeh.com.
  5. Click the Save button to save.

  6. Click OK on the success notification.
  7. Click the “Example” link, then an image similar to the one below will appear.

  8. Click OK to close the “Custom Domain Setting Example” popup.
  9. Open your DNS Manager and add a new record with the format:
    • Type : CNAME.
    • Name : Your Sub Domain. For example, if your subdomain is opt.muhammadsholeh.com, then all you write in this section is the word “opt”.
    • Target/Value : custom.halaman.email.
    • TTL : 7200 or auto.

  10. If you have added a new record, go back to the aplikasi.kirim.email page and click the Forms menu.
  11. Select one of the available forms on the Manage Forms page. Then in the ACTION column, select the View button.

The URL of your form will then automatically redirect to the subdomain you specified.
Please wait about 2 minutes to 24 hours for propagation if it’s still not working.
  12. Finished.

Editing Custom Domain URLs For General Forms And Landing Pages

When custom domain feature enabled, you can edit the default URL with your own URL.

For example, the default URL of a custom domain form is https://opt.muhammadsholeh.com/form/bar-n7J64sE1. You can change the URL to https://opt.muhammadsholeh.com/form/form-bar-Clg87Xz5.

Note : characters like n7j64sE1 and CIg87Xz5 are generated by the system and occur at random. You can change the word after the slash (/) and before the stripe (-) in the URL.

To edit the URL, please follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the aplikasi.kirim.email page.
  2. Click the Forms menu.
  3. Select one of the available forms or landing pages on the Manage Forms page. Then in the ACTION column, select the Edit URL option.

  4. Then, an “EDIT URL” popup appears. In the available fields, replace them with the words you want.
  5. Click Submit.

  6. Click OK on the Success popup. URL has been updated.
  7. Finished.

Tips to Speed up the Domain Propagation Process (Optional)

If you have followed the steps above, but the custom domain feature is not yet active after hours or days, please follow these tips.

  1. Move your DNS Manager to Cloudflare since not all DNS managers are good. If you’ve followed all of the steps in the tutorial above and the domain pointing is still not working, it’s likely that the DNS Manager you’re using isn’t very good at propagation. We recommend using Cloudflare since it’s better and free.
  2. Change Proxy Status from Proxied to DNS Only.
  3. Change TTL from 7200 to Auto.
